Russ Crapella

 

Russ Crapella began his career playing guitar in the early 60's. In 1970, he joined the band Zebra Dunn. Performing all the top regional clubs, his guitar playing and vocals continued to impress audiences as well as other artists. Glen Wyka, Bobby Nelson, as well as Bob Eulo all performed with Russ. To quote Steve Tarkanish, "Russ is one of the greatest guitar players I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I never met one person who didn't love Russ both personally and professionaly." Shortly after Zebra Dunn, Russ became the bass player with the Pat Galo Band. From the Arlington Lounge, to the opening of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Russ continued to grow. Bobby Ryder and Sixpence, Turning Point, and so many countless bands made Russ their first choice in choosing guitar players. One band that will never be forgotten was The Gashouse Gang. He performed under the name Dr. Bonzo Williams. Here, he deveolped into a front man, comedian, and world class entertainer. Russ is currently performing with just about any band that needs his skills. Regional bands like The Kootz to national acts, such as THE NERDS have had the pleasure of perfoming with Russ. At one time, he was on the road with Rod Stewart. There is so many more highlights to Russ' career and if we listed them, it would be an entire book. The word ultimate is used time and time again however, if there was a true ultimate guitarist, vocalist, entertainer, it would be Russ Crapella.
