"Would STARS place its name on anything that wasn't the best?"
STARS Uptown is one of the country's most exciting and versatile acts. Based in Reading PA, their original songs are being played on an ever-growing list of radio stations throughout the world. The STARS name signifies the band as one of the best bands anywhere.
“STARS Uptown began with the intent of being able to do any type of show. The band originally started with a set list of only cover material,” says Steve Tarkanish. STARS Uptown has diversified their sound by incorporating strong original material. They are currently independent recording artists as well. The band is enjoying an inspiring amount of success in their home state and the Northeast, performing from 150-200 gigs a year. STARS Uptown is becoming a band that performs all around the US and will eventually perform throughout the world. The band has a big sound that is hard to contain, and they want to share the musical joy with as many people as possible.
STARS Uptown has grown beyond its regional roots and become a truly national and international sensation since the release of their stylistically eclectic, critically acclaimed full length album debut Waiting For Her. TV-wise, STARS Productions have performed twice on NBC New York’s Late Night talk show “All Night With Joey Reynolds”. In addition to having their own listing on Pandora Radio, their songs have been heard on the national cable system Music Choice and DMX Satellite Radio. In the US, their music has been featured on numerous terrestrial radio stations in such markets as Quad Cities, Iowa (KMXG 96.1 FM) and Chicago, where WLFM 87.7 FM spun their holiday recording “Merry Christmas Baby.” The singles “Waiting For Her” and “You Treated Me Good” were both the #1 Most Added tracks in their week of release on the Groove Jazz Radio chart. Around the world, they enjoy brisk album sales in Japan and airplay on a unique array of stations, including Hawkesbury 89.9 in Sydney, Australia and Phoenix FM 98 in Brentwood, UK.
